Triskelon
Calendar
Web Builder includes a calendar module as of version 2.519.
The calendar can be configured as private and personal, for
each member of your organization to keep track of daily planning and
upcoming events; or as public, to publish and disseminate an
organizational calendar of events.
Maintain it easily on any computer where you have a
full keyboard. View it from your mobile phone or PDA from anywhere in
the world. Your calendar can also be used as a things-to-do list or
configured for public use to display a schedule of events on your web
site. Like all our designs, it has a simple and elegant user
interface.
Have each interested person in your
organization send us an email
specifying their first name and personal password, and we will set up
a private personal calendar account for each of them.
Configurable as Private or Public: Unlike other online personal calendars,
which are mined for marketing research purposes (or published for
"social networking" purposes), your Triskelon calendar is never
accessible by unintended parties, though stored online. Make a given
calendar account public or private, you decide. Neither unauthorized
members
of your organization nor the general public can read your private personal
calendar unless they know your personal password or the
system administrator password. Passwords for private personal calendar
accounts should not be shared. When you decide to set up a public
calendar account, there are two kinds of passwords: a read-write
password which you still keep private so that only you can make
changes, and a read-only password which enables the public to read it.
Public calendar accounts have a web address that looks something
like:

Calendar data is never shared with any third party for marketing, social
networking, or other purposes. To demonstrate that there are no
software "back doors", copies of all calendar-related scripts are available
on request.
 Easy &
Accessible The purpose of keeping your calendar
online is so that you can access it from anywhere using most any
WAP-enabled phone or PDA. Ask your
device service provider how to access WAP sites from your device. The
web address for accessing your calendar from your
computer looks something like:
http://yourdomain.com/cal/
The web access address for accessing your calendar from
your phone or PDA looks something like:
http://yourdomain.com/cal/wap/
Entering addresses into a phone or PDA can be a hassle. So after doing
it once, you'll see a message inviting you to "Bookmark this page!" When
you see that message, set a bookmark so you won't have to enter the
address twice.
Upgradable
Like other
Triskelon modules, the calendar module is likely to be improved over
time based on feedback from the user
network; and you pay nothing for software development nor licensing.
You pay only for the few minutes it takes to install requested updates
on your web server.
Alarms
You can set
alarms to ring and remind you in advance
of a calendar event. The alarm will ring about 5 minutes before the
event. In order for alarms to work properly, you must keep the
calendar page loaded in a browser window. The browser window can be
minimized or
in a tab behind another page—the alarm will still ring. But if the
calendar page is not loaded, the alarm will not ring. So if you're
expecting to hear an alarm, you must remember to keep the calendar
page loaded. You can still use your web browser for other purposes
by using multiple browsing tabs. Alarms will only be useful if you
expect to be near your computer when the time arrives. Before counting
on an alarm to remind you of an important event, we suggest testing
the alarm function first to make sure you understand how it works and
to make sure your audio volume is set properly.
Standards
Compliant The Triskelon calendar is fully compliant
with the VCALENDAR (.VCS) standard. This means you can import a
schedule of events published by civic, cultural, or sporting organizations
directly into your calendar, publish your organization's schedule of events
similarly, back up and restore your calendar data, and/or easily switch
from one personal calendar program to another. Nothing gets shared
from a private personal calendar account unless you create a .VCS file
and send it via email to your
correspondents. You can export your entire
calendar, or share only a single calendar item and distribute it with an
event announcement. Your web visitors can download a .VCS file from
your public calendar and import it into their own calendar
software.
