What
Kind of Question Should I Ask? What are you concerned about? Your love life, education, career, business, personal growth, spirituality? Whatever concerns you is a good thing to ask about. Or anytime you want to see more clearly the opportunity before you is a good time to ask for vision. The question can be specific, or it can be open-ended. Be careful not to ask complex questions that can be taken more than one way. Generally, the I Ching will speak to your heart more than to your question; but the answer is always to be taken in the context of the question actually asked. Let go of trying to control the outcome. Do not ask questions that seek to engineer a response. Try to get to the core concern of your heart in just a few words if possible. Expect guidance like you would get from a wise friend, not simplistic answers. Generally, yes-or-no questions do not work well with the I Ching. Try another tool if you are seeking a simple yes-or-no answer; as the I Ching will give you food for thought to help you decide, not decide for you. On receiving a response, you will have to slow down and think about the response. So you might as well start to slow down as you're formulating the question. It is not a time for busy thoughts. |
